Never did I think that pics from my road trip from LA to Vegas would ever end up on ladies’ swimwear. I can’t mention the label because this suit has yet to be released upon the masses. But here it is. It’s a shame I don’t have the bod to get away with wearing one of these. Ha!

Shane Steadman. Some of you may know him, some not so much. Fact is that all of you should. He is the man who invented the Ugg Boot here in Oz back in 1973. He called them Ugg because they were so ugly. Originally made for him and his mates for something warm to get into after a cold winter surf. In the surf community he is someone to look up to. He has been shaping surfboards since 1963. I took some quick snaps of Shane in between shots while shooting for CAST EYEWEAR last week.

Did a road trip over Christmas and New Year. Drove solo up to Noosa and Byron and everywhere in between. The goal was to score as many waves as possible and catch up with as many friends as possible. One of the best holiday seasons I’ve had I think. Scored a massive cyclone swell in Noosa. The open beaches had waves with 20-30 foot faces. Huge! Around the corner in the National Park was a lot smaller but perfect endless waves. Here’s one of them.

Just came back from another quick trip to Bali. Couple days working and couple days to chill. Not much surf for the last two days so went snorkelling in Nusa Dua and to the monkey forest at Uluwatu. Tourist.

TREACHEROUS

First camping trip of the summer. Up at 445am to drive off to Seal Rocks, NSW. Boards, tick, sunscreen, tick, camping gear, tick, rad tunes for the drive, tick, flatmate Tony, tick, coffee, tick, and we’re off! Surfed for 7.5 hours the first day and couldn’t move the next. Great waves, weather and friendly dolphins. Such a magical place. Can’t wait for the next one.

TEMPE RIDE

Headed off to to the Rock n Roll markets in Tempe on the weekend. Last sunday of each month at the Jets Sports Club. Vintage clothes stalls, snags, beer, swing dancing, lawn bowls, sun, what else do you need! Some great people watching. Good to get out of the bubble once and a while.

Here is a finished work of art created from a few of my photos from my LA Vegas trip earlier this year. Jeremy at We Are Handsome used his magic retouch to create this for one of their print designs for the upcoming season of swimwear. I’ll post the final when it is ready to be worn by ladies all over the globe.
